Working in a dealership? Here’s why you should move to London

Many of us choose to relocate at some point in our lives for a new career. Others might have somewhere more specific in mind where they long to live – all you have to do is find the right job there.

With that in mind, we wanted to hone in on one of the most popular places to work in the UK, if you want to take your job to the next level – our capital, London.

There are so many reasons to choose to work and live in London. Yes, the cost of living here is higher, but the wages are much more generous, as we’ll discuss further on in this post. But what do we love about London? Besides the fact that it’s one of the most historic, exciting and career-driven cities in the world, we’ve found a few other reasons:

Networking

As one of the prime locations in the world for business, London hosts an array of conferences, seminars and much more that you can get stuck in to. Hundreds of people move to London every year with the aim of furthering their career, and with the amount of industry specific events you’ll find, you’ve got every opportunity to excel.

Attending events is also the perfect chance to meet people if you’ve just relocated to London. You can even find a host of coffee mornings, wine tastings etc. that centre around a particular business or industry. Career related, and fun!

Schools

Taking your family along with you on your new adventure? Then you might want to think about where you could live, and where your children could attend school. Luckily, there are over 2000 primary and secondary schools to choose from!

Music

You’ll be spoilt for choice in London if you’re a music fanatic. There are theatres playing musical shows, venues made for live music like the o2, Albert Hall and Brixton Academy, and plenty of buskers out on the streets of London if you’re just looking to have it in the background as you wander the streets. You simply can’t not find music on your doorstep.

Art

Museums, festivals, markets, art galleries, the theatre, and any other form of entertainment for that matter…culture literally bursts through London on every street – there is no place like it. One of the most culturally vibrant cities in the world, London has four UNESCO world heritage sites in the Tower of London, Maritime Greenwich, Westminster Palace and Kew’s Royal Botanic Gardens. There are over 300 languages spoken in London – in fact, 84% of Londoners think that the city’s cultural scene is important in ensuring a high quality of life.

Food

If you like to treat yourself to a dining experience or two, you’ll be spoilt for choice in London. There are restaurants along most streets, from chip shops, to fast food, from buffets to high quality cuisine, you’ll never get round to trying it all (we dare you). Whatever your fancy, London hosts every type of food you can think of – your tastebuds will love every minute of it.

Travel and transport

Love a getaway from the hustle and bustle of the working week? London hosts an array of transport that can get you across the world, the country, or just 10 minutes down the road. The Tube is one of the most popular forms of transport in London, particularly for commuters across the city. If you’re not taking the tube on a regular basis, you’re not truly living the London life.

Looking to go a bit further? London has national trains available that can get you anywhere in the country, whether it’s London Euston or St. Pancras.

Going even further than that? You can use the Eurostar, which will take you right into the heart of Europe for a few days. Or if you’re a real jetsetter, Gatwick Airport and Heathrow are two of the largest airports in the world, just waiting to whisk you away.

Nightlife

There are over 7,000 pubs and bars in London, and you’ll likely struggle to find an empty one too. From rooftop bars, to clubs or just a local, you’ll certainly have your pick. And if you’re looking for something slightly more unique, you can always attend specific events e.g. gin, craft beer, wine.

Sports

Home of the London 2012 Olympics, London has plenty of sports on offer to keep you entertained. Lords, Twickenham, Wimbledon, Emirates – they’re all right on your doorstep! For huge sporting events, it’s definitely the place to be for sports enthusiasts, whether it’s football, rugby, basketball or cricket.

Sightseeing

You’ll never run out of sightseeing opportunities in London. Whether you want cheap or cheerful, iconic, adventurous, famous or even just an all-round tour, there is absolutely no shortage of experiences available. Take an old fashioned London style double decker bus across the city, and see every landmark from the top deck. Or visit them directly, like Hyde Park, Buckingham Palace, London Eye – they all sit right within the heart of the city.

Wages

As we’ve said before, the cost of living in London can be expensive, but the experience speaks for itself, and the wages are higher than a typical Car Sales job throughout the rest of the country.

For a Car Sales job in London, the average car salary would be around £44,633.46 whereas up north it can be around £40,215.08.

History

Founded in 43AD, London holds a great amount of history, and the stunning architecture from the likes of Westminster Abbey, The Tower of London, Buckingham Palace and so much more will leave you breathless. Buildings from the Tudor, Roman, Stuart and Victorian periods are a must see here.

Jobs

There are plenty of roles available in London, and plenty of car dealerships too. You’re bound to find a job you love here, and it’s a great stepping stone for your career to be able to say you have worked in the nation’s most prominent city for business.

Seeing the city

As we’ve said previously, there’s plenty to do in London – you’ll never get bored! But the view from the likes of the famous Shard, Houses of Parliament and the London Eye are what makes London truly exceptional. Seeing the city as a whole from a high point is truly scenic and eye-opening as to just how big it actually is. Despite the regularly packed tourists visits, these sights will amaze you and are a must see once you get here.

So if you are thinking about relocating, we would highly recommend the capital as one of the best places to live – it’s an experience to say the least. Why not try it out?
